Selecting Biden and Harris is a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America: Hillary Clinton

Soon after Biden was announced as the new POTUS, congratulatory messages from world leaders poured in.

Congratulating Biden and Kamala Harris, Democrat Hillary Clinton said, "The voters have spoken, and they have chosen @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris to be our next president and vice president. It's a history-making ticket, a repudiation of Trump, and a new page for America. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Onward, together."

President Justin Trudeau of neighbouring Canada greeted Biden for his historic win and said, "Congratulations, @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris. Our two countries are close friends, partners, and allies. We share a relationship that’s unique on the world stage. I’m really looking forward to working together and building on that with you both."

Former President Barack Obama hailed the 'historic and decisive' win of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson congratulated Biden "on his election" as US president and Biden's running mate Kamala Harris "on her historic achievement". "The US is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security," Johnson tweeted.

Republican Jeb Bush also joined the league of leaders wishing Biden for his White House win. "Congratulations to President-elect Biden. I have prayed for our President most of my adult life. I will be praying for you and your success. Now is the time to heal deep wounds. Many are counting on you to lead the way.

Former US President Bill Clinton extended his wishes as he said, "America has spoken and democracy has won. Now we have a President-Elect and Vice President-Elect who will serve all of us and bring us all together. Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on your momentous victory!"

European Union leaders Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen hailed Joe Biden's election as president of the United States on Saturday and called for stronger trans-Atlantic ties. "We take note of the latest development in the electoral process," said Michel, president of the European Council, which represents the leaders of EU member states.

"On this basis the EU congratulates President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on reaching enough Electoral Votes."
